Perfect for holidays, parties, or movie nights, these marshmallow popcorn balls are made with just three ingredients: brown sugar, marshmallows, and margarine. The gooey mixture is melted together, poured over freshly popped popcorn, and shaped into chewy, handheld balls. They're simple, satisfying, and endlessly customizable with add-ins like sprinkles or chocolate chips.
Ingredients
-
⅓ cup brown sugar
-
3 cups marshmallows
-
1 stick margarine (½ cup)
-
6 quarts popped popcorn
Directions
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the margarine.
Add the brown sugar and marshmallows. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
Pour the hot marshmallow mixture evenly over the popped popcorn in a large bowl.
Stir quickly to coat all the popcorn before it begins to cool.
Lightly butter your hands and shape the mixture into balls about the size of a baseball.
Place on wax paper or a greased baking sheet to cool and set completely.
Recipe Note
- Work quickly when shaping the popcorn balls, as the mixture firms up fast.
- Lightly greasing your hands helps prevent sticking.
- Store in airtight containers at room temperature for up to 3 days.
