Chewzies are dense, chewy treats baked in mini muffin tins, delivering all the texture of a gooey pecan cookie with the richness of a praline. Lightly crisped on top, rolled in powdered sugar, and with a surprise pinch of cayenne, they’re a perfect balance of sweet and nutty. Easy to make and full of flavor, these are a Southern classic with a twist.
Ingredients

3 eggs

¾ cup flour

1 ½ cups pecans

1 ½ cups brown sugar

½ teaspoon salt

Few grains of cayenne
Directions
In a mixing bowl, add brown sugar.
Stir in eggs, flour, pecans, salt, and a dash of cayenne. Beat by hand with a spoon until just mixed. Do not use a mixer.
Grease 24 small muffin tins thoroughly.
Spoon the batter into the tins, filling each only halfway.
Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes, or until just firm to the touch on top.
Remove from tins and roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
Recipe Note
- If they stick a little, they may not look perfect but will be even chewier and more delicious.
- A light dusting of powdered sugar adds the perfect finish.
- The cayenne is subtle—feel free to omit or adjust based on your preference.
