This traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe brings together a perfect balance of sweetness, texture, and flavor. With a blend of white and brown sugars and a generous helping of chocolate chips, these cookies bake up golden and delicious every time. Great for everyday treats, parties, or cookie swaps.
Ingredients

1 cup white sugar

1 cup shortening

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp salt

1 small pkg chocolate chips

½ cup light brown sugar

2 eggs

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the white sugar, brown sugar, and shortening until smooth.
Add eggs and vanilla, and beat until light and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until well combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
Let cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Recipe Note
- For softer cookies, bake on the lower end of the time range and remove when centers look slightly underdone.
- For extra gooey results, press a few extra chocolate chips on top of each cookie before baking.
- You can substitute butter for shortening, but it may slightly change the texture.
