Classic Apple Crumble is a timeless dessert made with tender, cinnamon-coated apples and a golden, buttery brown sugar topping. It’s simple to prepare, using pantry staples and fresh apples for a nostalgic, crowd-pleasing treat. The apples soften into a syrupy base while the crisp topping bakes into a lightly crunchy, caramelized layer. Serve it warm on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate comfort dessert.
4 to 5 apples
1 cup sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup flour
½ stick butter
¾ cup brown sugar
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Peel and slice 4 to 5 apples and place them in a greased 8x8-inch or similar-sized baking dish.
Sprinkle the apples evenly with sugar and cinnamon, then dot with the 2 tablespoons of butter (cut into small pieces).
In a separate bowl, combine the flour and brown sugar. Cut in the ½ stick of butter using a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Let cool slightly before serving warm.
