Ingredients
-
1/3 cup powdered milk
-
1 pkg. granulated yeast
-
1 cup lukewarm water
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
2 Tbsp butter
-
1 egg
-
1 tsp salt
-
1/4 cup sugar
-
1/4 cup cooking oil
Directions
In a blender or medium mixing bowl, combine the powdered milk, yeast, and lukewarm water. Let stand for 5 minutes to activate.
Blend or mix the mixture for about 20 seconds.
Turn off the blender or stop mixing, then add the egg, salt, sugar, and oil. Blend briefly or stir until smooth.
In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour.
Pour the wet mixture into the flour and stir until a soft dough forms.
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Once risen, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut into rounds using a small glass or biscuit cutter.
Melt the butter in a baking dish or pan. Dip each roll into the melted butter, coating lightly.
Arrange the rolls in the pan so they are just touching.
Cover and let rise again for about 45 minutes, or until puffy.
Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Recipe Note
- You can use dry milk or substitute with 1 cup warm milk in place of water + powdered milk.
- For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt after baking.
- These rolls freeze well—let them cool completely, then freeze in a sealed bag for up to 2 months. Reheat in foil to serve warm.
