This decadent fudge blends the deep richness of chocolate with the warm sweetness of butterscotch for a layered candy experience. A smooth mixture of sugars, evaporated milk, butter, and marshmallow cream creates the perfect base for melting in both types of morsels. Stirred until silky, then enhanced with vanilla and nuts, this fudge chills into a firm, sliceable slab of old-fashioned goodness.
Ingredients
-
2 cups packed brown sugar
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 cup evaporated milk
-
½ cup butter
-
1 jar marshmallow cream
-
1 (6 oz.) package butterscotch morsels
-
1 (6 oz.) package chocolate morsels
-
1 cup walnuts or pecans
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions
In a heavy saucepan, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, evaporated milk, and butter.
Bring to a boil over moderate heat and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat and stir in marshmallow cream, butterscotch morsels, and chocolate morsels.
Mix until morsels are completely melted and the fudge is smooth.
Add vanilla and nuts, stirring to blend.
Pour the fudge mixture into a buttered 9-inch pan and spread evenly.
Chill until firm, then cut into squares.
Recipe Note
- You can skip the nuts or substitute with chopped toffee bits for added crunch.
- Use a candy thermometer for precision—mixture should reach around 235°F (soft-ball stage).
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for longer shelf life.
