This recipe transforms pantry staples into soft, fudgy blondies with a deep caramel flavor. The combination of melted butter and dark brown sugar creates a rich base, while the vanilla and chopped nuts add layers of flavor and texture. They're incredibly easy to prepare, making them ideal for last-minute gatherings, holidays, or when you're craving something sweet and buttery.
Ingredients
-
2 sticks butter
-
1 pkg dark brown sugar
-
2 eggs
-
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
2 tsp baking powder
-
2 cups chopped nuts
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring until smooth.
Remove from heat. Beat the mixture well and stir in the vanilla. Allow to cool slightly.
In a small bowl, beat the eggs. Slowly add the eggs to the warm (not hot) sugar mixture, stirring quickly to combine.
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the sugar mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chopped nuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean or with moist crumbs.
Let cool completely in the pan. Cut into squares to serve.
Recipe Note
- Let the sugar mixture cool before adding eggs to avoid scrambling them.
- These blondies are rich—cutting them into smaller squares works well for serving.
- You can substitute walnuts, pecans, or omit nuts altogether for a nut-free version.
- For extra decadence, drizzle with melted chocolate or caramel once cooled.
